On April Fools Day the phone rang early in the morning. It was the call I had been waiting for. The Secret Service had completed their background checks on me, and I would be credentialed as "White House Press Pool" photographer for President Obama's visit to Maine today. I had requested access to the airport because I have never seen anything on a US President from this vantage point. When President Obama gets to his limo he looks up at the press pool and sees me waving. He waves back. So here it is: President Obama's "behind-the-scenes" arrival and departure from Portland, Maine on 4/1/10.
